“Amid chaos and deadlines, remember to pause, breathe, and recharge. The world can wait for a moment”

I am the cat, the cat is me

The tech space is constantly evolving. New technologies are being developed all the time, and it can be difficult to keep up.

Dear techies (lol), let’s take a moment to appreciate what you have accomplished or are about to accomplish. There is beauty in slowing down and taking a few deep breaths. The fact that you showed up is a big achievement. Taking a break can help you be more productive in the long run and avoid burnout.

By taking a break, you allow your mind and body to relax and rejuvenate. You have the opportunity to reflect on your work and learning. This will allow you to return to your task with fresh eyes, and help you avoid feeling exhausted.

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that can lead to feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and helplessness.

Taking a break can be difficult, especially in the fast-paced tech space. But it’s important to remember that it’s not only okay to take a break, it’s essential for your health and well-being.

How do I know when it’s time to rest? Here are a few indicators:

Lol I just had to
  • You’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed.
  • To keep up, you start drinking energy drinks or using caffeine-containing products.
  • You’re having difficulty focusing or making decisions.
  • You’re making mistakes.
  • You aren’t getting enough rest.
  • You are irritated or impatient.
  • You’re not having fun at work or with your hobbies.

Tips to help while taking a break (p.s these tips are what helped me)

  • Take breaks without feeling guilty.
  • Sleep (highly recommended).
  • Eat healthy foods.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Take a walk, listen to some music, or read a book.
  • Every 20–30 minutes, stand up and move about.
  • Start a new hobby.
  • Spend time with friends or family who aren’t in the tech space lol.
  • Watch your favorite show, such as The Big Bang Theory, with friends.

In the long term, taking breaks can help you be more productive. So don’t be scared to take a step back and replenish your batteries.
